Taking an e-cig on an airplane
I am about to go to Las Vegas in a month and I was wondering if anyone knows about bringing an e-cig through security and on to the plane. From what I have heard it is legal but I am not sure if it is just for those disposable ones or the one I have (JoyeTech Ego-C with a clearomizer). I think my fancy looking e-cig might throw them off and they might try to take it.
It is legal to have it anywhere in the USA but companies can ask that you not use it. I had one user tell me that they tried to kick him out of a resturaunt for using it. They can’t send you to jail and you wont be arrested but they can refuse you service and have you escorted if you use it. You can ask the flight attendant if they mond you vaping and if ye then have at it. If they say the prefer you not that’s not a yes or no, have at it :-) But if they say no then I would not do it.
You can also... sneaky :-) ... go to the bathroom in the airplane and have a few vapes. e-cigs are not detectable with smoke detectors. Also if you hold the vapor in your lungs long enough vapor will not be seen when you inhale. If they tell you no, it’s not that it’s illegal they probably don’t want other passengers to complain and have to explain to them what it is.
You will probably get a better answer if you call the airlines and ask them. They will probably give you a good answer :-)
Thanks, I will go ahead and contact them and let you know of my experience as well.
I have researched some more on the topic. It isn't illegal to bring an e-cigarette with you through security and onto an airplace. I have found that some websites have suggested bringing paperwork with you (like a manual) incase someone at security questions you what it is, you can easily show them. Using an e-cigarette is another story. It is suggested that you ask the crew if you can use it in flight. I don't really care about using it in flight, just while I am at the airport waiting for my flight or during a layover. I plan on taking 2 Ego-C Twist batteries with me on my trip later this month and a 10 or 30ml bottle of liquid (which I am going to put in a zip-lock bag). I will update this post after my trip to let other users know of my success or failure. I am pretty sure it will be OK as long as I don't use it during flight. I am thinking if people see a vapor rising, it could freak out other passangers.
I had no problems taking my e-cig through security and on to the airplane. No one at the airport bothered me about vaping. I put my liquid and clearomizers in a plastic ziplock bag with my other liquids that I carried onto the plane.
